An Assessment of Human-Wildlife Conflict in Basanta Corridor: a Case Study from Kailari Rural Municipality, Nepal

The human-wildlife conflict (HWC) has always been a subject of concern for conservationists and people living in the proximity forests. Nepal witnessed increasing incidents HWC at an alarming rate last few years. study was carried out to understand causes trends Kailari Rural Municipality perception towards wildlife conservation. major tools used data collection were key informant interviews questionnaire surveys. collected from field analyzed using descriptive inferential statistics. This showed that crop plundering, human injuries & death, livestock injuries, killing by common form animals with high monkey, wild boar, elephant, tiger, blue bull, deer, rabbit recent main crops damaged area wheat, paddy, maize, peanuts, mustard, etc. problematic found be monkeys, rabbits, boars. concluded tigers elephants attack problems areas near Dudhwa National Park (India). None respondents have got compensation loss crops, livestock, even case casualties. Most believed come cropland due farmland nearer forest lack food animals.
